The city of Montpellier (Hérault) is launching the Jesoutiensmescommerçants.montpellier.fr platform this Monday, which allows traders considered non-essential, who had not done so until now, to embark on the "click and collect ".

They will thus be able to offer residents the opportunity to order online, and to collect their products suddenly at the door of the store.

Each merchant who wishes will be able to have a free page, allowing him to present his products, and to show customers how to order and collect their purchases.

"It's a way of allowing traders to continue their activity", explains the mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse (PS).

"A real tsunami"

A communication campaign is planned in town and on the Web, to make this new device known to residents.

“So that, if they have to go on the Internet to make purchases, it is not on Amazon, but on this platform, from Montpellier merchants, hopes the elected representative.

I call on the people of Montpellier to be responsible.

"

Users will be able to use a search engine to find the products that interest them, and interact with traders.

"We are experiencing a real economic tsunami, even more serious than during the first containment," notes André Deljarry, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, who participated in the creation of the platform.

November and December represent 30% of the annual turnover of traders.

This new website will survive the crisis, says the mayor.

On Thursday, the Occitanie region will also launch its “click and collect” online store, called Dans ma zone, “in order to support the craftsmen, manufacturers and traders of Occitania”.

"This platform will offer merchants offering direct ordering or in-store pick-up the opportunity to be referenced and to benefit from the visibility of the regional platform", indicates the community.
