Chinanews.com, Beijing, November 5 (Reporter Wang Enbo) The Insurance Association of China and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association held a press conference in Beijing on the 5th to officially release the "Specifications for the Use of the Definition of Critical Disease Insurance (2020 Revised Edition)" (below Referred to as the new specification).

It is understood that the new regulations will further expand the scope of critical illness insurance coverage.

In 2007, the above two associations jointly issued the "Regulations for the Use of the Definition of Critical Disease Insurance".

With the continuous development and innovation of medical clinical diagnostic standards and medical technology, some of the contents of the old specifications can no longer meet the current industry development and consumer needs.

Under the guidance of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, the two associations initiated the revision of the old regulations and formed the 2020 revised version of the disease definition and use regulations for critical illness insurance.

According to reports, this time the definition of critical illness was revised to optimize the classification, and a major disease classification system was established.

The definition of mild disease was introduced for the first time, and the three core diseases, malignant tumor, acute myocardial infarction, and stroke sequelae, were divided into severe diseases and mild diseases according to their severity.

Through scientific grading, on the one hand, it fully adapts to the development of medical diagnosis and treatment technology. On the other hand, some diseases that were severely ill in the past, but the current diagnosis and treatment costs are low and the prognosis is good are defined as mild diseases, making the compensation standard more scientific and reasonable; Adapt to the actual development of the critical illness insurance market, formulate clear industry standards for mild illnesses that are more common in the market, and regulate market behavior.

The new standard is also based on the critical disease evaluation model, quantitatively evaluates the degree of severity, and combines the definition of standardization and operability, and expands the original definition of 25 critical diseases into 28 severe diseases and 3 mild diseases, and moderately expands guarantees range.

In addition, the new specification expands the scope of disease definition and optimizes the definition.

According to the latest medical progress, the coverage of 8 diseases including major organ transplantation, coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve operation, and aortic operation has been expanded, and the definition of 7 diseases including severe chronic renal failure has been improved and optimized.

Jia Biao, deputy director of the Life Insurance Department of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, pointed out at the briefing that critical illness insurance is an important type of insurance in China. Whether the definition of disease is scientific and reasonable is the core of the responsibility of critical illness insurance products. Three requirements are put forward for the implementation of the new regulations: First, it is clear that newly developed critical illness insurance products should meet the requirements of the new regulations. The second is to clarify that the transition period is from the date of issuance to January 31, 2021, to ensure a smooth switch between the old and new regulations of critical illness insurance. After the end of the transition period, companies shall not continue to sell critical illness insurance products developed based on the old standards. The third is to require companies to strengthen sales management, prohibit misleading sales by switching between new and old norms, and prohibit hype about stopping sales. (Finish)
