The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry revealed that the value of exports and re-exports of companies from members of the Chamber exceeded 49 billion dirhams, from the beginning of this year until the end of the third quarter, while the number of certificates of origin it issued reached 53.5 thousand certificates during the first nine months of the year.

The Chamber confirmed to Emirates Today that despite the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, the recent period witnessed great activity in heading to export and obtaining certificates of origin, noting that 6437 certificates of origin were issued last September only.

Al-Awadi added that «the chamber has monitored a turnout of member companies in obtaining certificates of origin and export, especially during the recent period, as the Chamber issued 6437 certificates of origin last September.

Al-Awadi stated that the “Sharjah Chamber” worked on the completion and elaboration of an urgent action plan that kept pace with the challenges of the stage that the business community faced at the emirate level due to “Corona”, as the Chamber maintained through it the continuity of services internally in its operations and activities, and externally among its members from the private sector.

He explained that «the Chamber’s business plan centered around three basic pillars: identifying the basic challenges facing the business community, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of companies’ work, as well as ensuring that the requirements and services needed by companies are provided in a smart and digital way that provides safety for company employees and enhances the ease of their practice For their business ».

Al-Awadi indicated that, in implementation of this comprehensive plan, the Sharjah Chamber intensified its virtual meetings and meetings with representatives of the private sector, especially the Chamber’s sectoral business groups. From the beginning of the year until the end of the third quarter of this year, more than 15 meetings and meetings had taken place. Al-Awadi pointed out that after obtaining the visions, recommendations and views of the business community in the emirate, the Sharjah Chamber has exercised its role as a bridge linking the public and private sectors, which resulted in the Chamber’s contribution in an effective way to support and ensure business continuity, within the second pillar of its plan, through The government of Sharjah approved a stimulus package to support the business sector in the emirate. Seven initiatives from this package were directly related to the services of the Sharjah Chamber that it recommended implementing them.

He indicated that the initiatives included: exempting tenants from rent in buildings belonging to the Sharjah Chamber (Building Trade 1 and Trade 2) for a period of three months, granting a 30% discount to associate members of the Chamber to participate in Expo Sharjah exhibitions for the years 2020 and 2021, and exempting participants in the permanent exhibition. For national industries, from rental fees for a period of three months, and a 50% discount for shops, commercial centers and central markets participating in the marketing campaigns organized by the Chamber during the year 2020.

Al-Awadi added that the stimulus packages also included: Exempting shops in the central and eastern regions from fees for participating in the marketing campaigns organized by the Chamber during the current year, as well as exempting employees of small and medium enterprises in the Trade Center (101) from rental fees until the end of 2020, and finally Exempting tenants from rent in the Sharjah Expo Center building for a period of three months.
