The government has instructed companies to switch to telework five days out of five during the reconfinement.

But some companies are dragging their feet, despite the demands of their employees.

With the reconfinement, teleworking five days a week has once again become the rule for millions of employees.

"Where it is possible, it is not an option, it is an obligation," Labor Minister Elisabeth Borne said last week.

But despite government instructions, some companies are dragging their feet and refusing to switch to full-time telecommuting.

"Managers believe that employees are more productive in the workplace"

"Teleworking, yes, but not 100%! Two days out of five is enough!"

This is the position adopted at the end of last week in this subsidiary of a large CAC 40 group which employs a little more than 2,000 people.

Antoine, who works in one of the design offices of this company, asked his superiors to switch to five days a week.

But he was refused a refusal: beyond two days, he was told, leave will be deducted.

"The main argument put forward is the fact that managers believe that employees are more productive in the workplace than at home. We feel that the company's policy is ultimately: As long as there is no control, as long as there is no fine, we continue like this. We do not change the maximum number of days of telework ", testifies the employee.

The administration prefers to advise than to punish (for now)

For now, there have been some formal notices, tells us the Ministry of Labor.

The checks and fines may come later, but the administration is not - today in any case - in a punitive logic.

The priority, adds the ministry, is to advise and support companies in the implementation of the health protocol.
