The Council of Ministers chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, approved a decision to amend the name of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, to be the "Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics", and to attach it to the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.

The Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics will continue to play its role in organizing the statistical and competitive sector in the country, enhancing its position within reports and indicators of global competitiveness, and achieving sustainable development, by building an integrated national statistical system, and raising the state's competitiveness in various sectors.

The center will also continue to propose policies, strategies, legislation and plans related to the field of statistical and competitive work, study best international practices in all areas of statistical and competitive work and work to implement them, promote and spread the culture of competitiveness, the importance of the availability of statistical data and information in the country, and prepare and implement a unified statistical system within various sectors. It is characterized by comprehensiveness, accuracy and consistency, continuity and modernity at the state level, classification and analysis of statistical information and competitiveness indicators in cooperation with government agencies and the competent authorities, and working to provide and make them available.

The center will also provide training and technical support to all government agencies, in accordance with international best practices in this regard, in addition to holding and participating in conferences, seminars and workshops related to the statistical and competitive field, and other specializations.

It is noteworthy that the decision comes in light of recent changes in the UAE government, with the aim of reaching a government that is more flexible and able to keep pace with national priorities, and adapt to changes and developments in the world, especially with the pivotal role that the center plays in developing and enhancing the country's performance in the fields of global competitiveness and statistics.
