On the first day of confinement, the Boulanger and Fnac Darty stores opened normally.

According to the management of the latter, the opening is justified by the exceptions explained by the government.

But it makes other traders cringe, forcing them to stay closed.

DECRYPTION

These are openings that are surprising on the first day of the containment against the coronavirus.

As Europe 1 revealed to you, the Fnac Darty group decided to open its stores in France this Friday, in particular the emblematic point of sale located rue de Rennes in Paris, near the Montparnasse tower.

Openings that aim, among other things, to prevent Amazon from once again taking advantage of confinement to grab all sales.

A question of survival, or almost.

"Amazon has already launched its promotions machine and if we close, they will take everything away," we explain internally.

"We think we are in the nails"

The group therefore looked in detail at the sectors authorized to work by the government: among them, the repair and sale of laptops, computers and large household appliances.

Fnac Darty therefore decided to take the government at its word and opened its points of sale.

"We did not ask for authorizations, we think we are in the nails", ensures the entourage of the management at Europe 1.

And even if it means selling electronics and household appliances, you might as well do it with other products on the shelves, including books.

What makes the booksellers cringe, forced to lower the curtain since midnight Thursday evening.

"We understand that this is hard, but large retailers sell a lot of books, so why not us?", Defends Fnac.

Boulanger stores also open

For its part, the Ministry of the Economy has not yet banged its fist on the table against these openings.

But this could soon be the case, since the direct competitor of the Fnac-Darty group, Boulanger, has also decided to open its stores despite the new health measures in force.

Another exception that Europe 1 has seen: opticians are currently open, whereas they were only open in the event of an emergency in spring.
