Competitiveness and Statistics: 109.7 thousand female citizens of work in the country by the end of 2019

40% of employed Emirati women work in the local government sector

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority revealed that the total number of Emirati female citizens working in the country reached 109,793 by the end of last year, compared to 99,499 by the end of 2018, an increase of 10 thousand and 294 women within one year, and its percentage is 10.3%.

The authority stated in a report, which Emirates Today obtained a copy of, that the local government sector is the most attractive sector for female citizens, as 43 thousand and 971 female citizens work in it, accounting for 40% of the total number of Emirati female workers, followed by the federal government sector in which 34 thousand work. And 71 female citizens by 31%, then the private sector in which 12 thousand and 553 women work by 11.4%.

According to statistics, the number of female citizens working in the joint governmental and private sector amounted to 17,513 women, while 700 women work in the foreign sector, 10 women in diplomatic bodies, and 536 women in non-profit organizations, and the rest work in other separate sectors.

Statistics showed a significant increase in the number of Emirati women working in the federal government sector within a year, as the number of female citizens working in the sector increased from 25,491 by the end of 2018 to 34,71 by the end of last year, with an increase of 8,580 and an increase of 33.6%.

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics reported that 13,407 women were working as legislators, senior employees and managers, by the end of last year, compared to 11,576 women by the end of 2018, with an increase of 1831 and an increase of 15.8%, while 36 thousand and 249 women work as specialists, while working 23 thousand and 868 female citizens are technicians and assistants and specialists, and 27 thousand and 156 female citizens work as support office employees.

The authority stated that 8,024 women work in the field of sale and services, while 166 women work in the crafts and professions associated with them, and 66 women are operators of factories, machines and assembly lines, while 19 women work in elementary occupations, noting that there is no citizen working as a skilled worker in agriculture. Forestry and fishing, while the rest is in various other occupations.
