China News Service, Beijing, October 25 (Reporter Wang Qingkai) Today is the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, the Chinese traditional festival Chongyang Festival.

Before and after the Double Ninth Festival, the temperature in many parts of the north dropped by 10°C, and the "old men of migratory birds" also started the "annual north-south migration" to avoid the cold.

Thanks to the remarkable results of China's epidemic prevention and control, Chinese elderly tourists have begun to travel in mid to late August.

According to data from China's online travel platform Qunar.com, from October 9 to 21, the number of elderly tourists has exceeded 80% in the same period last year.

Almost every traveller who takes refuge from the cold dreams of a warm winter south of the 18° north latitude line.

Sanya City in Hainan Province is still the hottest destination.

In addition to Sanya, Ctrip data shows that Kunming, Beihai, Xiamen, Zhuhai, Haikou, Guilin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanning, etc. are also popular destinations for the 2020 "migratory bird elderly" to avoid the cold.

Compared with young people, "silver-haired people" have more time and energy to travel.

Ctrip data shows that since the resumption of inter-provincial travel, the "post-50s" and "post-60s" vacationers accounted for as high as 35%.

"Silver-haired people" pay more attention to comfort and cost-effectiveness, but they also show an upgrade in tourism consumption.

The upgrade of tourism consumption of elderly travelers is mainly reflected in the acceptance of new gameplay.

Custom tours, private tours, theme tours, etc. become "net celebrities."

Among Ctrip's customized travel group, those over 55 accounted for 17%, and the per capita consumption reached 3,800 yuan (RMB, the same below). Five-star airlines, comfortable itineraries, and special diets became the focus of attention of the elderly.

Judging from the crowds of "migratory bird elderly" before and after the Double Ninth Festival, Beijingers have made the "first fight".

According to data from Ctrip, the "migratory bird elderly" in Beijing, Harbin, Shanghai, Shenyang, Hohhot and other cities are the main groups for refuge from the cold; among the group of tourists going to Hainan to refuge from the cold during the Double Ninth Festival, Beijingers accounted for 11% and Guangdong people accounted for 11% 10%, Shanghainese account for 9%.

Tourists from Heilongjiang and Liaoning accounted for about 8%.

"At the end of October, one out of every 10 people who took refuge in Sanya from the cold brought Beijing accent."

A Sanya hotel owner said that Beijing’s cold-shoulders came earlier than last year.

In 2019, the "Elderly Migratory Birds" usually set off in early November.

Affected by the epidemic this year, many people have been unable to travel for more than half a year, and people started coming over at the end of October.

"After the epidemic, no aunt didn't want to wave a silk scarf at the beach." Qunar platform research found that older tourists obviously prefer the sea to the mountains and mountains.

This year, more than 60% of tourists to Hainan still choose Sanya, and more than 70% of elderly tourists travel without children. They prefer to travel with their wives or sisters.

Since August, the Chinese people's travel consumption confidence has increased significantly. During the National Day holiday just past, the number of Chinese tourists and the scale of travel consumption have reached a peak.

Behind the increase in travel time and average consumption growth is the overall restoration of tourism confidence.

Industry insiders believe that the domestic tourism market has gradually emerged from the haze of the epidemic and entered a new stage of development.

The global epidemic has not yet "fed off", and the data on China's tourism recovery has amazed the world.

"Resurgence in tourism will help promote domestic consumption in China and benefit related brands and hotel groups at home and abroad. At present, many economies are still struggling to recover from the impact of the epidemic. China's strong domestic demand means stronger imports. Demand, this will also help the recovery of the global economy." said Hu Dongan, an economist at the Oxford Economics Institute, a British think tank.
