Exhibiting products useful in the event of a disaster Focusing on prevention of corona infection October 21, Tokyo Koto-ku 15:15

An exhibition of products useful in the event of a disaster began in Tokyo on the 21st, and with the spread of the new coronavirus infection, attention is focused on products that have the function of preventing infection in evacuation centers.

At the exhibition held in Koto-ku, Tokyo, products and disaster prevention goods that are useful in the event of a disaster, handled by about 170 companies in Japan, are introduced.

Attention is being paid to products that have the function of preventing the spread of infectious diseases in evacuation centers that tend to be in a so-called "three-cs" environment.

Of these, the small room surrounded by sheets made by a company in Aichi Prefecture is equipped with a ventilation fan and duct, and the air inside the room can be exhausted to the outside of the shelter.

With products for two people, the air is replaced 15 times an hour to prevent the virus from spreading inside evacuation centers, which means that inquiries from local governments and hospitals are occurring one after another.

In addition, a venture company in Tokyo has developed a "hand-washing device" that can repeatedly use water even in places where there is no water supply facility.

A device shaped like a drum can hold 20 liters of water, and water can come out of the faucet to wash your hands.

The water used is purified by a filter with holes smaller than the virus and can be used repeatedly.

In addition, it also has a function to sterilize smartphones with deep ultraviolet rays.

Shotaro Ichihashi, the marketing manager of WOTA, who developed this device, said, "In the disaster of the Corona era, it is important to wash your hands in places where people are crowded, such as evacuation destinations, so in various places such as municipal facilities and commercial facilities. I want you to make use of it. "

This exhibition is open until the 23rd at Tokyo Big Sight.

Infectious disease control at shelters is an issue

Survey results show that people who hesitate to go to evacuation shelters may continue to be afraid of being infected with the new coronavirus in the event of a disaster, and measures against infectious diseases at evacuation shelters are an urgent issue.

This survey was conducted by the NPO "CeMI Institute for Environment and Disaster Prevention" in April, targeting more than 5,000 people in their teens to 70s who had evacuated due to a disaster.

When asked if the spread of the new coronavirus would affect evacuation in the event of a disaster, 73.3% answered "affect", 12.9% answered "do not affect", and 13.8% answered "don't know".

When asked how to change the evacuation behavior to those who answered "affect", 41.7% said "use a car to evacuate in the car" and "go to the evacuation center, but watch the situation and see the evacuation destination. 39% answered "Change" and 21.8% answered "Do not go to the evacuation center designated by the local government".

Based on the results of this survey, the Institute says that measures against infectious diseases at evacuation centers and securing evacuation destinations other than evacuation centers such as hotels and acquaintances' homes are urgent issues.
