The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority revealed that the number of workers in the transport sector as a whole stands at 464,976 workers, at a time when the compensation for workers is about 42 billion and 427 million dirhams annually.

In the transport sector survey it conducted, and its results announced yesterday, the authority stated that the number of establishments operating in the transport sector in the UAE is 12,780 facilities, which vary between land transport facilities, pipelines, air (aviation) and water transport, in addition to Storage, transportation support activities, postal activities and parcel transport by delegates.

She explained that the number of establishments operating in the land transport sector amounted to 6779, or 53% of the total number of establishments in the sector, while water transport acquired 259 establishments, and air transport acquired 49 facilities, in addition to 5498 establishments in the storage sector, and 195 facilities in the transport sector. Parcels.

The authority indicated that the number of workers in the entire transport sector amounted to 464,976 workers, including 219 thousand and 112 workers in the activities of land transport and transport by pipelines, and 77 thousand and 755 workers in air transport (aviation), and 144 thousand and 403 workers in storage and support activities. For transport, 13 thousand and 885 workers in postal activities and the transport of parcels by delegates, and 9,821 workers in water transport activities.

The "Federal Competitiveness and Statistics" stated that compensation for workers in the field of transport, which includes: salaries, allowances, incentives and recruitment costs, annually amounts to about 42 billion and 427 million dirhams, of which 19 billion and 971 million dirhams are salaries, allowances and incentives for those working in air transport, with a rate of 47.07% of the total Compensation for workers in the entire sector, eight billion and 345 million dirhams, salaries, allowances and incentives for workers in the land transport sector, 11 billion and 584 million dirhams for workers in storage and support activities, and the rest are compensations for the rest of the workers in water transport, mail and parcel transport.

The survey showed that the total value of the productivity of the transport sector amounts to 222 billion and 633 million dirhams annually, of which 133 billion and 746 million dirhams are the value of the productivity of the air transport sector alone, at 60% of the total, and 40 billion and 123 million dirhams are the value of the productivity of storage activities, and 35 billion and 944 million dirhams. For road transport activities, and the rest is distributed among other activities.

Added value to transportation activities

The transport sector survey revealed that the added value of transport activities, or the transport sector’s contribution to the state’s GDP, amounted to 86 billion and 895 million dirhams annually, as the added value of air transport activity reached 40 billion and 109 million dirhams, and for the land transport activity 23 billion and 563 million dirhams, The storage sector has 18 billion and 127 million dirhams, and the rest is distributed on water transport, mail, and parcel transport.

The launch of "Emirates Numbers"

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority announced the launch of the "Emirates Numbers" platform, in which it adopted the standards of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), based in Paris, with the aim of publishing official statistical data for the UAE and providing it through time series, noting that the platform was developed by the efforts of a team of The authority, according to the latest technologies of the (SDMX) protocol, to exchange statistical data attached to its metadata.

The Director General of the Authority, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, emphasized the essential role of "Competitiveness and Statistics" in providing the National Statistics System with a reliable data platform with international standards.

He said, "The existence of an approved national platform helps in disseminating statistical data in an optimal manner, and reflects our commitment to keep pace with digital transformation, which embodies the vision and directives of our wise leadership."
