TGV Inoui, Ouigo, Intercités, international trains and regional trains will run normally despite new health restrictions in the face of the coronavirus epidemic, SNCF said Thursday.

A train ticket can be used as an authorization to travel to or from the station between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in areas affected by the curfew.

All trains will run as planned this weekend and during school holidays, despite the establishment of an evening curfew in Île-de-France and in eight French metropolises from Saturday, reassured the SNCF on Thursday.

"SNCF Voyageurs confirms that the TGV Inoui, Ouigo, Intercités, international trains and regional trains will all run as planned this weekend of October 16, 17 and 18, as well as during all the All Saints holidays," said the company in a press release.

Train tickets will be an exemption

A train ticket can be used as an authorization to travel to or from the station between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the areas affected by the curfew, Prime Minister Jean Castex said.

"If you have your sleeper train, for example, or a plane after 9 pm, if you have your ticket, your proof of transport, you can go and take it and it will be worth a dispensation", he assured Thursday afternoon at a press conference.

5 million passengers expected in stations

President Emmanuel Macron assured on Wednesday evening that there would be no transport restrictions during the curfew, no travel limits between regions, and that the new measures will not prevent people from going on holiday from the All Saints' Day which begins on Friday evening.

SNCF expects 5 million passengers on its mainline trains during the holidays.

TGV and Intercity tickets, with connecting TERs, can be exchanged and canceled free of charge until January 4.
