The sector is united.

The professional federations of the hotel-cafes-catering sector (HCR) deplored Wednesday that the curfew announced by the President of the Republic for several metropolises in response to the second wave of the coronavirus constitutes "a disguised closure" of their establishments.

"It is clear that this decision is equivalent to a re-closing of our establishments" and that it is "fraught with consequences for the sector (...) already hard hit by this crisis", write in a joint press release the Syndicate of thematic catering (SNRTC), the Union of Hotel Trades and Industries (Umih), the Group of Independent Hotel and Restaurant Industry (GNI) and the National Group of Hotel Chains (GNC).

Aid claimed

"This new time constraint, which condemns the evening service, has the pure and simple consequence of forcing our restaurants to close", say professionals in the sector.

Recalling their support for “reinforced controls” to enforce the health protocol, they regret “that the police are mobilized in much greater numbers to enforce the curfew”.

Emmanuel Macron announced Wednesday that curfews would be imposed from Saturday for a month, or even until December 1, in Ile-de-France and in eight metropolises from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to deal with the "worrying" health situation.

In this context, the UNHCR sector calls for "a system of reinforced aid to support the treasuries" and "deeds on rents and insurance".
