  Since 2016, in accordance with the unified deployment of the Chinese government, the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Council’s Poverty Alleviation Office, the Ministry of Finance, the former Ministry of Land and Resources, the People’s Bank of China and other departments and 22 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) that have relocation tasks for poverty alleviation have jointly promoted Relocation for poverty alleviation in the new era.

In 2016 and 2017, about 5.89 million people across the country have successfully completed the relocation of poverty alleviation and relocation.

  Tong Zhangshun said that after five years of unremitting efforts, the "Thirteenth Five-Year" relocation of poverty alleviation and relocation tasks have been fully completed. A total of 35,000 centralized resettlement areas have been built nationwide, more than 2.66 million resettlement houses, and more than 9.6 million poor relocated people moved to new homes. It effectively solved the poverty alleviation problem of nearly one-fifth of the poor population during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, and made positive contributions to winning the battle against poverty.

  Tong Zhangshun said that at present, the relocation of poverty alleviation and relocation has been fully transferred to a new stage focusing on follow-up support.
