Sompo Japan New personnel system for seniority system October 13 22:28 even in the late 20s

Sompo Japan, a major non-life insurance company, has introduced a new personnel system to break away from the seniority system in which salaries increase according to years of service.

We will enable employees to be promoted based on their abilities and people regardless of age, and in terms of the system, they will be able to take up the position of section chief even in their late 20s.

This review of the personnel system applies to 18,000 of the 25,000 employees of Sompo Japan, who are below the section chief position.

First of all, from this month, we have changed the positions below the section chief, which had been divided into five categories, to three categories.

We will abolish the positions called "special manager" and "deputy chief", and also abolish the guideline for the length of stay for each category.

In this way, regardless of the year or the number of years in which the same position has been held, the aim is to motivate young people by allowing them to be promoted based on their abilities and personality, aiming to break away from seniority.

According to the company, it will be possible to promote to a section chief position, which had been promoted in the late 30s at the earliest, even in the late 20s.

The movement to review the Japanese-style employment system, which is characterized by seniority, has already begun to spread among major companies, but the company wants to work on drastic reforms of working styles in the wake of the spread of the new coronavirus infection. It is said.
