The meeting also discussed the progress made by the Tourism Working Group during the Presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the G20, which includes the commitments made in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, which took place in light of several main axes, including focusing on the role of tourism in creating a comprehensive community development, and working to enhance the experience Safe and comfortable travel and improve the traveler's experience.

Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises, said that in light of the unusual circumstances that the world is going through today as a result of the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic, there are many transformations and changes that have occurred not only on the tourism sector, but on the various daily activities and behaviors of billions. He pointed out that tourism is one of the main engines of the comprehensive development of society, as it contributes to the diversification and protection of natural and cultural resources, as the travel and tourism sector accounts for up to 10.3% of global GDP and 330 million jobs (direct and indirect) in 2019. On the importance of the current efforts aimed at developing a more sustainable environment for the tourism sector, and studying new opportunities to restore movement and activity in the sector, but also in parallel with the health and preventive standards and obligations followed.

He added that support and incentive policies for tourism and travel companies and airlines are still necessary to ensure their ability to keep their business, and also to continue efforts to facilitate the experience of safe, smooth and sustainable travel, as major steps for recovery, in addition to the pivotal role in relying on advanced technology and digital transformation in recovery and continuity. He reviewed the experience of the UAE in dealing with the challenges imposed by the global crisis on the sector, as the country was one of the fastest in the region in providing incentives and facilities, as well as its ability to adapt quickly as a result of its possession of an advanced technological and digital infrastructure, which today mainly contributed to making A safer and smoother travel experience to and from the country.
