DP World and Expo 2020 Dubai have become a global partner and founder of the Earth Shot Prize, which is considered the most prestigious environmental prize in history that stimulates change in the world with actions spanning a decade in the quest to reform the planet.

The Earth Shot revolves around five points, namely protecting and restoring nature, purifying the air, returning life to the oceans, building a world without waste, and reforming the climate.

And if these goals are achieved before the end of the decade, then each would improve life on Earth for generations to come.

These goals constitute a unique set of challenges inherent in science, which aim to create new ways of thinking, as well as new technologies, systems, policies, and solutions.

Prizes will be awarded to five winners every year for a period of 10 years.

The goal is to provide at least 50 solutions to the world's biggest problems by 2030.

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of the Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said: “We know that the next 10 years represent a critical period for humans and our planet, and that living in balance with the earth and its resources is essential for the future of billions of people around the world".

She added that “Expo 2020 Dubai is a place where countries and peoples explore solutions to challenges such as the impact of climate and sustainability, and inspires people to think and act differently in order to change for the better.”

And Al Hashemi added, "We are very excited to be part of this vital, important and exciting initiative represented by the (Earth Shoot) Award, together with our main partner, the (DP World) Group.

For his part, Chairman and CEO of "DP World", Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said: "We at (DP World) believe in the importance of protecting the people of the earth and our planet in which we live by setting global standards for safety and the environment."

He added, “We focus on making a positive impact on economies and societies everywhere we operate. Therefore, we are proud to be a founding partner in a global Earth Shot Award consortium, and we look forward to cooperating closely with the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to implement this ambitious project.” What is important ».

Distribution of the "finest environmental prize" for Prince William, starting in the fall of 2021

In the fall of 2021, Prince William will present the first edition of his award devoted to the environment, through which he seeks to "replace optimism with the current prevailing pessimism" through rewards for those who offer solutions to the climate crisis, according to what his royal foundation announced yesterday.

The Earth Shot Prize, accompanied by financial rewards of 50 million pounds (about 65 million dollars) over 10 years, is the "most ambitious and finest of its kind" environmental award, and is inspired by the program of US President John F.

Kennedy to send humans to the moon, which formed "a beacon for the development of new technologies" in the 1960s.

The foundation, affiliated with the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, said in a statement that the award "will encourage change and help reform our planet over the next ten years, a critical period for planet Earth."

Prince William said on BBC Radio 4: "We have to find solutions to be able to live our lives and benefit from them, and not to feel guilty and bad about the hundreds of things we do."

He stressed that the goal lies in "mobilizing the best energies and the best possible solutions, reforming and addressing some of the most important environmental challenges in the world."

The winners will be announced annually at ceremonies that each host a new city in the world, starting with the top five winners in London in autumn 2021, and the nominations will start in November.

The award will reward people from various fields, including scientists, activists, and economists, as well as companies and governments that contribute to finding solutions to the climate crisis.
