The Government will accelerate the energy transition as a lever to get out of the coronavirus crisis.
The resilience plan in the face of the crisis presented this Wednesday by
Pedro Sánchez
plans to advance two years the objectives of reducing polluting emissions set for 2025, accelerating investments and intensifying the mobilization of resources in the heat of the aid granted to the country by the European Commission.
The ecological transition will be the item that mobilizes the most funds within the recovery plan designed by the Government for the period 2021-2023 and presented online today to the main businessmen of the country.
It will be, specifically, 37% of a total investment package that has been established at 72,000 million euros.
In other words, more than 26,000 million will go directly to the 'green' revolution.
Sánchez has not specified the actions that the Government plans to carry out to intensify the transformation of the country, although he has given some of the forecasts that the Executive manages such as the commercialization of more than
250,000 electric vehicles in the next three years
or the installation 100,000 charging points.
The jump is considerable if one takes into account that in 2019 just over 24,000 plug-in vehicles were sold in Spain.
The strategy against climate change sent by the Government to Brussels contemplated a reduction in polluting emissions of 25% in the year 2025, a goal that is now two years ahead.
To achieve this, the Executive is counting on the massive installation of renewable energies in the coming years, encouraged by the large electricity companies, investment funds and even oil companies that are transforming their business model.
