The French would be ready to take the plunge in terms of electric vehicles.

An Ipsos * study carried out for the manufacturer of EVBox charging stations and reported by BFMTV indeed reveals that 31% of them plan to buy an electric or plug-in hybrid car.

Experts in the sector had already noted a few weeks ago that sales of these two types of cars had increased by 219% in July and August compared to the same period last year.

Corinne Frasson, director of the French subsidiary of EVBox partly explains this recent enthusiasm by a "desire to act to preserve the environment".

For her, confinement and its consequences on traffic could make the population want to find "a clean and silent city".

Still obstacles to buying

These concerns nevertheless stand out with the explosion in the number of SUVs sold recently in the region.

In September, these vehicles represented 41% of the new market, a record.

The study also reveals the two main reasons which still slow down the enthusiasm of the French in this area.

52% of them fear that they will not be able to recharge their car as they please, even if the government has announced that it wants to reach 100,000 public terminals by the end of 2021.

The cost of this type of vehicle would also make the French more cautious.

In order to democratize access to electric cars, the Tesla company, one of the leaders in the sector, has promised that it will manage to drop below the $ 25,000 mark within three years.
