  • The Umih would have obtained the reopening of bars on Tuesday according to its president.

  • However, the prefect, unreachable for the time being, did not report any order in this direction.

The news, rather surprising, has something to delight Marseille and Aix catering professionals.

"At the end of a meeting this Monday with the prefect and Madam the mayor of Aix-en-Provence, the prefect authorized the reopening of the bars as of Tuesday", affirms with

the president of the Union of Trades and Hospitality Industries (Umih) of Bouches-du-Rhône, Bernard Marty.

Closed since the classification of the Aix-Marseille metropolis in the maximum alert zone in the face of the coronavirus epidemic, restaurants in Marseille and Aix were authorized to reopen on Monday.

On the other hand, as in Paris, the bars had to remain closed.

According to Bernard Marty, the prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône has returned to his position to authorize the reopening of bars throughout the department, "on the condition of barrier gestures, the strict application of the health protocol and obligation of consumption at the table, ”writes Umih on its Facebook page.

No orders yet

“Consumption at the counter, consumption standing up, wandering with glasses in hand, indoors or outdoors, are prohibited,” specifies the Umih on its social networks.

"We would return to common law, with a closure at one in the morning in Aix-en-Provence and two in Marseille," says Bernard Marty.

"The prefect listened to our arguments, which consisted in saying that everything can be considered with a heavy health protocol," rejoices the departmental president of Umih.

Now, we are suspended from the order of the prefect ”.

Contacted on multiple occasions, the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône did not respond to our requests.

The prefecture has not reported any decree on the issue at the time of this writing.
