TSE system trouble Caused by backup settings October 6, 4:16

Regarding the system trouble that occurred on the 1st of this month, the Tokyo Stock Exchange revealed that it was not set to automatically switch to backup when a part of the device that stores trading information breaks down.

The "Investigation Committee" made up of outside directors will investigate whether there are any problems with the system check system.

In response to this system trouble, the Tokyo Stock Exchange announced on the 5th that Executive Officer Hiroki Kawai and others held a press conference and set up an "investigation committee" made up of four independent outside directors.

He also explained that the trouble was caused by the fact that it was not set to automatically switch to the backup device when the memory of the disk that stores trading information fails.

Currently, he changes the settings and confirms that it works properly.

This system, called "Arrowhead," was developed by Fujitsu and renewed in November last year, but Executive Officer Kawai said at a press conference, "As a market operator, I am primarily responsible for what happens there." He stated that he would not seek compensation for damages from Fujitsu.

Based on the contents of the report to the Financial Services Agency by TSE this month, the "Investigation Committee" will check the system, respond in the event of trouble, and the responsibility of TSE and the parent company "Japan Exchange Group". It is our policy to investigate and compile a report promptly.
