China News Service, Hainan, Changjiang, October 1 (Reporter Wang Xiaobin) The reporter learned from the Hainan Nuclear Power Base on October 1 that following the Hainan Nuclear Power Unit 2 WANO (World Association of Nuclear Power Operators) composite index, it achieved a perfect score of 100 for the first time in July 2020. Later, Unit 1’s WANO Composite Index also achieved full marks for the first time in September 2020.

The WANO composite index is an international general index system for measuring the comprehensive operating performance of nuclear power plants. The assessment items cover power generation, operation, maintenance, safety and other aspects. Its authority and scientificity are recognized by the international industry.

This is the first time that Hainan Nuclear Power has achieved double perfect scores in the WANO Composite Index for Units 1 and 2 since its full commercial operation in August 2016, marking that the Hainan Nuclear Power Base's dual unit safety operation level has simultaneously entered the world's advanced ranks.

The Hainan Nuclear Power Base is the southernmost nuclear power base in China. The two 650,000-kilowatt nuclear power units of the first phase of the project were fully completed and put into operation in August 2016, with an annual power generation capacity of over 9 billion kWh, reversing the power shortage that has plagued Hainan for many years.

Recently, the second phase of the project has also been approved by the state, and construction is in full swing.

According to the nuclear power base, since the start of the project, Hainan Nuclear Power has always strictly complied with the National Nuclear Safety Law and other laws and regulations, always adhered to the principle of safety first and quality first, and always accepted national regulatory agencies and regulatory agencies in an open and transparent manner. The supervision of the public.

Since the beginning of this year, Hainan Nuclear Power has successively launched special programs such as non-stop reduction, safety and reliability improvement, performance appraisal optimization, and WANO indicator improvement, and the unit operation quality and operation level have been effectively improved.
