Sustainable materials are increasingly present in our cars.

At Mazda, for example, cork is incorporated into the cabin of the MX-30 electric crossover.

At Polestar, there is even talk of the “vegan” interior of the soon to be mass-produced Precept sedan.

Econyl fibers are found on board, on which the English Jaguar Land Rover are also working.

Concretely, the Econyl is made from recycled industrial plastic, fabric scraps from clothing manufacturers, fishing nets or even abandoned nets collected from the ocean.

According to Jaguar Land Rover, this eco-responsible nylon would reduce production emissions by 90% compared to a petroleum-based material.

For 10,000 tonnes of Econyl raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are thus saved, thus avoiding the emission of 65,100 tonnes of carbon.

This durable material will soon appear on board the new generation Jaguars and Land Rovers.

It will mainly make up the floor mats, but also some upholstery.

And we can of course imagine that the practice will soon become widespread among other manufacturers.
