Will the Fiber Excellence pulp mill at Tarascon in Bouches-du-Rhône close its doors?

For a week now, the employees of this factory owned by the Canadian company Paper Excellence and which employs nearly 300 people have been on strike.

A social movement that threatens the future of the site according to its president, implicating the strikers, who, for their part, denounce the "stubbornness" of a direction that refuses to negotiate.

On strike since Monday, September 21, the employees oppose the management's "survival plan" which includes, in order to put the company afloat, general wage cuts.

" To the wall "

"The strike brings us up against the wall and directly threatens the survival of the factory which was already in financial difficulty," factory director Jean-François Guillot told AFP.

Fiber Excellence is also currently facing a trial for the emission of polluting substances, postponed to January 6.

According to the director, Tuesday, “less than 10%” of employees, members of the Force Ouvrière union, “but who are in key positions” continued to block production, “while last week we reached an agreement with three unions, the representative of the State, even Bercy ”.

In a press release published Tuesday, FO denounces for its part "the stubbornness" of the management and asks for "real negotiations with the guarantee that no sanction or legal threat would be made to the strikers when they return to work".
