While around twenty social plans are already underway in the aeronautics sector, the Latécoère group announced on Friday a project to reorganize the equipment manufacturer located in Toulouse, cutting 475 jobs, or a third of its workforce.

The board of directors voted for this social plan on Thursday.

"This project should ensure the future of Latécoère in a context of deep crisis," said the company in a press release.

This involves in particular adapting the production tool to meet the group's strategic challenges and ensure the maintenance of its industrial footprint in France over the long term ”.

No return to normal expected before 2025

The information-consultation process for employee representative bodies will continue until early 2021. Before the health crisis, Latécoère was already experiencing financial problems.

The coronavirus epidemic has sent Toulouse society even further, which has recorded a 40% drop in the group's activity since March.

Not foreseeing a return to normal before 2025, the aeronautical group thus wants to preserve the future of Latécoère, by reducing its operating costs and by adapting its workforce outside France to its new level of activity.

The government's stimulus plan would have saved more than 150 jobs.
