Arzamastsev noted that the interests of the population of Europe and the interests of the elites should be separated.

“The more pipelines Europe provides itself from different countries, the more there is a choice of suppliers, the lower the prices will be, the greater the volume of supplies.

There are the interests of the elites, political interests, they differ from the interests of the population, which benefits from low prices, ”he added.

According to him, Nord Stream 2 does not pose a threat of splitting Europe.

“The more pipelines are physically included in the European Union, the more such sources, the more Europe really feels safer, on the one hand.

On the other hand, Europe over the past 20-30 years has done a lot for energy independence, especially Germany.

There is already a very strong, even redundant system of protection of the European market through the adopted norms of the energy package, in addition, there are very large-scale programs to transfer energy to renewable sources, so this is more of a political issue.

Ukraine fears for its position in the event of the implementation of the "Nord Stream - 2", - said Arzamastsev.

Earlier, the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Slovakia said that Nord Stream 2 could pose a threat to the unity of Europe.
