Proposal for the establishment of Keidanren Digital Agency “Organization to be a powerful command tower” September 23, 17:30

Keidanren has put together a proposal for the "Digital Agency," which the government is considering establishing, and called for the establishment of an organization in the Cabinet Secretariat that will serve as a powerful command tower that centrally bundles national and local policies.

The government has decided to submit the necessary bill to the ordinary session of the Diet next year with the policy of establishing a new "Digital Agency" in order to promote digitalization intensively.

In response to this, Keidanren compiled and published "Proposals for the Establishment of the Digital Agency".

According to it, "Japan's digital policy is far behind the world due to the vertical division of each ministry and agency, so we need a command tower and an executive organization to centrally unite the policy."

On top of that, the "Digital Agency," which is being considered for new establishment, is positioned as an executive organization that promotes national and local digital policies, and centrally plans all digital policies, including the private sector, and plays the role of a command tower. It is recommended that the "Cabinet Digital Bureau" should be established in the Cabinet Secretariat.

Masakazu Kubota, Secretary-General of Keidanren, who held a press conference on behalf of Chairman Nakanishi who was in the hospital, said, "The digital station is just one idea, but I think that a command tower with strong authority is necessary. I want to tell the ruling party as well. "
