In 2021, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will welcome a whole new category: hypercars.
Peugeot sees it as an incredible opportunity to make its comeback in this event, which it won in 1992, 1993 and in 2009. If in 2009, the 908 prototype won with a… diesel engine (yes, yes!), this will not be the case in 2022: this time, the car will carry a hybrid engine, as stipulated in the category regulations.
We have already mentioned it in the case of Toyota, it is not the only point of this regulation that tickles us.
Because in addition to being hybrid, a hyper car must, to be eligible for the World Endurance Championship, develop the maximum power of 680 hp, and be produced in 20 units… homologated for the road.

Does this mean that Peugeot will come to play on the lands of Ferrari, Porsche and other Aston Martins?
