New movements among companies to utilize electric motorcycles September 22 14:50

In order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions as a measure against global warming, companies in the Kansai region are beginning to use electric motorcycles and replaceable batteries.

Iwatani Corp. and McDonald's Japan, a major gas company headquartered in Osaka, have cooperated with Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. to replace some of the gasoline motorcycles used for business in Kyoto City with electric motorcycles from this month.

We will prepare 12 electric motorcycles at 6 offices in the city, and will share replaceable batteries with each company from April next year.

If the battery is about to run out, we will establish a system so that it can be replaced with another company's battery.

The challenge with electric bikes is that they take a long time to charge and have a short mileage.

The aim is to solve the problem by allowing multiple companies to replace the battery, and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by promoting its widespread use.

Regarding electric motorcycles, four manufacturers such as Honda and Yamaha Motor and Osaka University are planning to start a demonstration experiment this month to confirm the convenience of electric motorcycles by placing replaceable batteries on campus and convenience stores, aiming for popularization. Efforts are underway.
