Family inquires about life insurance policyholders Life Insurance Association of Japan New system in the age of 100 years September 18, 20:14

When a life insurance policyholder dies, claims and payments may be delayed because the family left behind may not know if they have an insurance policy.

Industry groups of life insurance companies will start a mechanism next year to find out which insurance company has a contract when a family member makes an inquiry.

This was revealed by Akio Negishi, chairman of The Life Insurance Association of Japan, at a press conference on the 18th.

The new mechanism is that if a life insurance policyholder dies or has impaired cognitive function and cannot be sure if there is an insurance policy, the Life Insurance Association of Japan will check with the insurance companies when the family inquires.

We assume that inquiries will be made via the Internet, and we are planning to start in July next year.

We will consider the cost of using it in the future.

Negishi, the president of the association, said, "When looking at the social issues of the'100 years of life', it is a big issue to make sure payment when there is a contract."
