While the number of passengers is decreasing due to the influence of the new coronavirus, a fishery high school in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, put stones on the railroad track to boost the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tenryu Hamanako Railway line running in the western part of the prefecture. I made a can.

On the 17th, at Shizuoka Prefectural Yaizu Fisheries High School, four second-year students in the Department of Food Science canned the stones laid on the Tenryu Hamanako Railway track.

The students are supposed to make canned fish through practical training, but on the 17th, they manually performed a process called "Makijime" that involves the edge of the lid when sealing with a machine. ..

The Tenryu Hamanako Railway line, which opened during the former JNR era, is a popular line for railroad fans as it celebrates its 80th anniversary, but the number of passengers is decreasing due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

The students were working with the hope that the cans containing three or four stones would return to their liveliness.

The boy said, "I was surprised to put stones in it, but since it is a canned product made with traditional techniques, it should be a commemorative item."

Canned foods will be sold at Tenryu-Futamata Station in Hamamatsu City early next month for 550 yen each.
