The “bicycle boost” operation will be extended until the end of the year.

Launched in May at the time of deconfinement by the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition, the device is a package of 50 euros (excluding taxes) paid for by the State and making it possible to have your bicycle repaired.

The operation will be endowed with an additional 20 million euros (to reach 80 million in total) with the objective of exceeding one million repairs, announced on Monday the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili and the Minister for Transport, Jean -Baptiste Djebbari, during a trip to a cycle repair shop in Paris.

Reinforced aid for "modest households"

This "boost" was very successful, with 620,000 bicycles repaired, thanks in particular to the enthusiasm for cycling in this period of pandemic, favored in particular by numerous new developments.

The use of cycle paths has increased by 29% since the end of confinement compared to the same period in 2019.

In addition, the State will double for "modest households" the premiums set up by communities for the purchase of an electric bicycle, up to 200 euros provided by the State, said Barbara Pompili.

The recovery plan presented in early September provides for a total of 200 million euros for cycling, of which 100 million will be delegated to the regions.

The objective is in particular to equip 1,000 secure parked stations and to carry out 600 cycle path projects in two years.
