After the recent announcement of its entry into F1 in the form of a "re-baptism" of the Renault team, Alpine has also just announced that it will enter an LMP1 prototype from next season.

Present in Endurance racing since 2013, the Signatech Alpine team has won two European titles, two world crowns and three LMP2 victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The association formed between Alpine and the Signatech team thus won the driver and team titles from its debut in the European Le Mans Series in 2013 before achieving the double in 2014. A year later, the Blues reached a milestone by joining the FIA WEC World Championship.

Alpine has proven its worth by winning two world crowns as well as three of the last four editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 category.

Today, the brand is launching a new challenge by formalizing the entry of an LMP1 prototype in the premier category of the FIA WEC World Championship and the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans.

From next year, Alpine will be one of the only manufacturers to be entered simultaneously at the highest level of two World Championships recognized by the FIA, while having deployed a complete customer competition program with the Alpine A110 Cup, GT4 and Rally. .

Long awaited, this return to the top of Endurance is part of the history of the brand, which has already taken part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans eleven times between 1963 and 1978. Alpine has won everything: the Index Energetic in 1964, 1966 and 1968, the Performance Index in 1968 and 1969, seven class victories - a number now increased to ten - and above all the victory in the Absolute General Classification in 1978 with the Alpine A442B.

Alpine will therefore present at the start of the races an LMP1 Alpine prototype designed around an Oreca chassis and a Gibson engine that has already proven its worth.

This set will benefit from the technical expertise of Oreca and Signatech to achieve a level of performance that will allow it to win against its competitors, while potential synergies with the F1 team are being studied.

In the coming months, Alpine Endurance Team will unveil its LMP1 prototype, its colors and its crew, before starting its test program.
