Within a month, the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi closed 27 economic establishments and a sales outlet, and 46 establishments violated and warned 631 others, for non-compliance with the preventive and precautionary measures for the prevention of the emerging corona virus (Covid-19), in addition to the circulars issued in this regard.

Inspection campaigns

The department explained to "Emirates Today" that it had carried out 32 thousand and 212 inspection campaigns, during the past 30 days, to verify the availability of precautionary requirements and measures to limit the effects of the pandemic, and to ensure that facilities and outlets adhere to the application of requirements and physical distancing, as well as following up the activities that were issued Decisions and circulars regarding its closure, and the follow-up of the circular issued regarding the ban on providing "hookah".

Adulterated products

The Abu Dhabi Economy revealed that it had withdrawn 6,469 fraudulent and non-conforming products during inspection campaigns. It also distributed 4,939 educational and informational leaflets to various sectors and segments regarding developments related to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the importance of downloading the “Al Hosn” application for workers in all facilities and outlets.

She pointed out that the inspection campaigns included sales outlets, groceries, centers for selling vegetables and fruits, fish, restaurants, mobile vehicles, cafes, pharmacies, shopping centers, sports clubs, women's salons, and money exchanges, in various parts of the emirate, including Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra and Al Ain.

She stressed that it will continue to carry out more inspection campaigns on a daily basis on all commercial establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, during the coming period, to verify full compliance with the precautionary measures without complacency, as well as setting the prices of goods, products and services, and not raising them without justification due to the pandemic.

The department called on institutions and commercial establishments to adhere to the implementation of all the circulars issued by them, especially preventive and precautionary measures, to face the repercussions of "Corona", and not to raise prices without justification, or to monopolize goods, which is an explicit violation, and stressed that in the event that any violation is detected in this regard, The violation will be issued, according to the schedule of violations of economic activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

A team of volunteers

It is noteworthy that the Abu Dhabi Economy has previously announced that there are more than 30 employees in the department, who have been registered as volunteers with the inspection and control teams in the department, to cover the largest possible number of sales outlets and shops in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Violations table

The schedule of violations of economic activities, issued by the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, provides for a warning to the violating establishments in some cases, and then to impose fines starting from 1,000 to 60,000 dirhams, according to the violation and its frequency, and according to economic activity.

The penalty reaches closure with regard to some activities, if the violation is repeated more than four times.
