First collaboration between NTT and KDDI disaster recovery support Transporting supplies to the disaster area September 11, 14:16

NTT and KDDI, major telecommunications companies, will work together to recover from a disaster.

In the event of a large-scale disaster, we will jointly operate the vessels owned by both companies and quickly bring temporary base stations and generators to the disaster area to support early recovery.

On the 11th, the two companies signed a new agreement to cooperate in activities that lead to social contribution, and from this month, they will utilize a total of four vessels dedicated to laying communication cables owned by both companies in the event of a disaster. I did.

For example, when a road is cut off due to an earthquake or typhoon and it becomes difficult to carry supplies to the disaster area, we will jointly operate four ships and load the supplies on a ship near the disaster area and deliver them to the site.

The aim is to support early recovery by promptly transporting temporary base stations, generators, and other essential items for evacuation such as water and food.

The two companies are jointly conducting disaster training and sharing information on the damage situation of communication infrastructure, but this is the first time that they have cooperated in recovery support.

At the press conference, KDDI President Makoto Takahashi said, "As the disaster intensifies, we would like to strengthen our response as a mission of telecommunications carriers. We would like to expand the scope of participation by other companies."
