Barrière will launch into online games with a "platform initially dedicated to sports betting, then eventually to horse racing and poker," the group announced Thursday.
To do this, the company, which owns 33 casinos and a gaming club, but also 18 hotels and more than 140 restaurants and bars, has signed a partnership with BetConstruct, leader in the sector, which will manage the BarrièreBet brand.
"The online games market is a new area of development which will allow our group to consolidate its positions and promote its brands, but also to increase our notoriety among new players, and to retain our customers, who are followers of our physical casinos ”, underlined Dominique Desseigne, CEO of Barrière.
Bridges between online betting and casinos
“Beyond the game offering itself, BarrièreBet will reward the performance of bettors in the community and allow them to have unique experiences in the various establishments of the Group,” added the company in its press release.
To offer online games, you must have an authorization, issued by the ANJ (National Gaming Authority), which is the case with BetConstruct.
According to the ANJ, the online gambling sector (sports betting, horse betting, poker), represented 12% of the turnover of the entire authorized games market in 2019.
If gambling is less popular in France, there are on the other hand more and more addicted players.
