The MP also noted that the United States will be the most important "beneficiary" from the closure of the project.
“It would probably be stupid on the part of Germany to the detriment of its citizens, its companies to follow the lead of the United States in order to buy more expensive American gas in exchange for cheaper Russian gas,” the parliamentarian concluded.
