The Jeep Wrangler is arguably one of the most capable and authentic 4x4s around.
But like the others, it must evolve with the times, and this is why from 2021, it will put its fingers in the socket.
It will indeed be offered in a plug-in hybrid version called 4xe, recognizable by its blue interior and exterior decorative details.

Autonomy to be validated in Europe
A 2.0-liter turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine will be mated to 2 electric motors and a 17 kWh battery pack, the assembly delivering a total power of 375 hp.
A first engine replaces the conventional alternator, and is responsible for starting and stopping.
The second allows the Wrangler to run in fully electric mode for 25 miles (40 km) according to American homologation.
It remains to be seen how these figures will be translated for Europe ...

And that lovers of crossing be reassured: this second electric motor drives the rear wheels, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe therefore keeps a permanent 4x4 all-wheel drive.
And it could even be that the properties of the electric motor in terms of torque (generous and available immediately) favors the capabilities of the Jeep.
