The Noor Abu Dhabi plant records an efficiency rate of 93% in terms of energy savings
Emirates Water and Electricity Company, a leader in the integrated coordination of planning, procurement and supply of water and electricity across the UAE, has celebrated a successful year of its commercial operations at Noor Abu Dhabi, the largest independent solar power plant in the world.
The Noor Abu Dhabi plant covers an area of eight kilometers and includes 3.2 million solar panels. The solar power plant is located in the Sweihan area in Abu Dhabi. It is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), the Japanese consortium of Marubeni companies and the Chinese Ginko Solar Holding.
Since the start of its commercial operations, the plant's net production of solar energy has reached 2,000 gigawatt hours, equivalent to providing electricity to about 66,000 homes, and the efficiency rate in terms of energy availability has reached 93%.
The station also recorded (404,835) working hours without lost time injuries until the end of last April, which confirms the company's commitment to applying the highest internationally approved health and safety standards.

In line with the Emirates Energy Strategy 2050, the company is implementing an ambitious strategy that aims to secure 50% of Abu Dhabi's energy needs from renewable energy and clean energy sources by 2030 while working to limit carbon emissions from its systems by more than 70% compared to 2015.
