Bluely, a self-service electric car service, ceased its activities on August 31 in Lyon. - Sarah Mangeret

The adventure ended on Monday at noon. Bluely, a self-service electric car service deployed in the streets of Lyon since October 2013, has closed for good due to lack of profitability. In the grip of economic difficulties, the private company of the Bolloré group was unable to get up when it came out of confinement.

Fifty-one stations had been set up throughout the metropolis of Lyon. The service, which offered 250 self-service vehicles, had 10,000 active subscribers last fall. In October, he even launched a long-term rental offer allowing subscribers to rent a car for several hours "at low cost".

Another service in Lyon?

Autolib, deployed in Paris, had previously gone out of business. Bluecub, the equivalent in Bordeaux, was also to cease its activities this Monday at noon

The Métropole de Lyon has indicated that it wishes to deploy "a new car-sharing system", ensuring that "the service offer can resume within acceptable time limits". Discussions have already started with EasyVia, an EDF subsidiary, but also with Lyon Parc Auto, which already provides a car-sharing service and which has been asked to improve its offer.

Hello, we have started talking with @Izivia, an EDF subsidiary located in the region for the installation and operation of electric charging stations.
