Dubai Economy reported that inspectors in its commercial control and consumer protection sector have started inspection campaigns on stationery stores and outlets that sell computers within a series of field visits with the start of the return to school season.

The Dubai Economy indicated that the campaign, which began a week ago and will continue during the first week of the start of the school year, aims to ensure that this sector is ready for the school season, in addition to making sure that prices are not raised.

The director of the Consumer Protection Department at the Dubai Economy, Ahmed Al-Zaabi, told «Emirates Today» that the field campaign aims to ensure the availability of school products and stationery on the occasion of the season of return to schools, pointing out that it focused on surveying the markets a week before the start of the study to ensure that the prices are not exaggerated. Stationery and the availability of special offers for students ’stationery and electronic needs, especially those needed for distance learning students.

Al-Zaabi added that the campaign continues during the first week of the school year, indicating that inspectors have made sure that the prices match between the shelves and the payment box at the sales outlets.

He stated that the campaign also focused on ensuring that the requirements of promotional offers are followed, stressing that the Dubai economy is working to combat any negative practices in the markets or mislead consumers, especially with the growth rate of demand for stationery products.

Al-Zaabi also stressed that inspectors are working during campaigns to communicate with consumers as well, within the framework of working to increase their awareness to avoid exploitation and commercial fraud or any increase in prices in an exaggerated manner.

The Dubai Economy confirmed its continuation in consolidating the rules of commitment to the local market, and the need for cooperation between various sectors and consumers, which ensures the achievement of a neutral and transparent mechanism in the buying and selling processes, and thus enhancing the competitive and commercial position of the Emirate of Dubai.
