Launch of the Women in Aviation Association

On the occasion of the launch of the association on the sidelines of the symposium "Women's energies in the aviation sector" organized by the General Authority for Civil Aviation, Sheikha Mozah affirmed that "Emirati Women's Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of Emirati women in all forums by supporting our wise leadership and its effective role in supporting the country's march within Home and abroad. "


She referred to the unlimited support that women receive from officials in the civil aviation sector, with the aim of strengthening their role in the sector and achieving the aspirations of Emirati women in this dynamic and dynamic sector.


For his part, the Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, said that Emirati women were able to consolidate their position in building the nation’s present and making its sustainable future.


He added, "We are proud of the success stories of Emirati women in the fields of economy, entrepreneurship, politics, science and technology, and other sectors."


Al-Marri added, "We have a national strategy to empower women to combine the efforts of all parties in sustaining women's success, providing the foundations for a decent and productive life, and enhancing their position in international forums."


He affirmed that the General Authority of Civil Aviation is keen to create a supportive work environment for women by launching several initiatives to enhance the role of women in the sector, noting that the establishment of the Women’s Association in the Aviation Sector is aimed at supporting the aviation sector and providing it with effective female cadres.


In turn, the Vice President of the International Civil Aviation Organization "ICAO", Captain Aisha Al Hamli, said that "Emirati women have managed to overcome all barriers and difficulties, and are able to achieve what they desire through the unlimited support of the leadership of the state."


In the same context, the head of the aviation medicine department at the General Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Nabila Al-Awadi, said that there is a need to increase Emirati cadres working in the field of aviation medicine, as there is a dearth of national cadres working in this specialty, whether male or female, pointing to Few are working in this sector globally at the moment.


Al-Awadi added that it is expected to attract a greater number of national cadres to work in this field after the "Corona" pandemic highlighted the importance of this specialization and the existence of a great need for it to serve the travel and aviation sector now.


She pointed out that the coming period will witness great cooperation with universities and specialized universities in the country to introduce the importance of aviation medicine and to hold courses in this field.


Al-Awadi stressed that the current stage needs all the capabilities of Emirati women, especially since they can work under pressure, as the Corona pandemic has proven.


In addition, the Vice President of Human Resources for Emiratisation, Employment and Training at Emirates Aviation Group, Amira Al Falasi, said that there is a clear strategy for recruiting and qualifying national cadres that has the full support of the group's leaders that focus on providing appropriate job opportunities for national cadres of men and women and providing various qualification programs for graduates High school and university graduates.


For her part, Senior Pilot Officer Hoda Saeed Al-Muslimi, at Etihad Airways, the first pilot officer to pilot a giant plane, said, "The Emirati women have contributed to the evacuation of the country's citizens from abroad during the pandemic, as well as the trips to collect medical supplies and bring in more food.
