According to Deutsche Welle, Schwezig, speaking during a debate in the Landtag (Land Parliament), noted that the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany is important for the future energy supply of the country.

According to her, Germany did the right thing by deciding to abandon nuclear and coal energy, and in the transition period it needs alternative energy sources such as natural gas.

As emphasized by Schwesig, the state government rejects the US attempts to dictate to Germany "where and by what route it will receive our energy."

“We are firmly committed to the construction of a gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea,” she said.

Earlier, Schwezig called on Germany and Europe to prevent blackmail around Nord Stream 2.

In mid-August, the head of the Bundestag committee, Klaus Ernst, in an interview with RT, announced the possibility of discussing at the UN level US threats to impose sanctions on the project.
