Two departments issued an announcement: Preventing the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease in Mozambique into China

　　China News Service, August 25. According to the website of the General Administration of Customs, the General Administration of Customs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently issued an announcement calling for the prevention of the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease from Mozambique to my country.

　　On August 14, 2020, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) announced one case of cattle foot-and-mouth disease in Maputo, Mozambique. In order to protect the safety of my country's animal husbandry and prevent the spread of the epidemic, in accordance with the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China", "The Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China" and its implementation regulations and other relevant laws and regulations, the announcement is as follows:

　　1. It is forbidden to import cloven ungulates and related products directly or indirectly from Mozambique (products originating from unprocessed cloven ungulates or processed products that may still transmit disease).

　　2. It is prohibited to send or carry cloven hoofed animals and their products from Mozambique. Once found, they will be returned or destroyed.

　　3. If cloven hoofed animals and their products from Mozambique are found on the means of transport such as incoming ships, aircraft, road vehicles, and railway trains, they shall be sealed and stored, and they shall not be allowed without customs permission during their stay or operation in China Unsealed and used. The waste and swill shall be treated in a harmless manner under the supervision of the customs and shall not be discarded without authorization.

　　4. All cloven-hoofed animals from Mozambique and their products intercepted by border defense departments and other authorities will be destroyed under the supervision of the customs.

　　5. Anyone who violates the above provisions shall be dealt with by the customs in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China", "The Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China" and its implementation regulations.

　　6. Customs at all levels, animal disease prevention and control agencies, and animal health supervision agencies shall respectively follow the relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China, and the Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of the People’s Republic of China. Cooperate and do a good job in quarantine, epidemic prevention and supervision.
