Ratio of female managers at domestic companies Still low level 4:04, August 26

The percentage of female managers at domestic companies remains low. According to a private survey as of July, the rate was 7.8%, and the companies surveyed point out that the public and private sectors are required to expand the support system for childbirth and childrearing.

This survey was conducted by Teikoku Databank last month on companies nationwide, and received responses from 11,732 companies.

The average percentage of female managers in each company was 7.8%.

It was the highest since 2013 when we started the survey, but the rate of increase compared to last year was only 0.1 point.

When asked about the proportion of female managers in the future,
▽21.7% of the companies expected to increase ,
60.3% of the companies answered "no change".

The proportion of companies expecting an increase decreased by 1.9 points from last year, decreasing for the second consecutive year, indicating that the awareness of companies regarding the promotion of women is weakening.

The government had set a goal of reducing the proportion of women in the leading positions of society to around 30% by this time, but it has decided to postpone it because it is difficult to achieve it.

Taro Asahikai, Industrial Data Analysis Division, Teikoku Databank, said, “It is necessary for the government and the private sector to expand the support system so that women can continue to work even after childbirth and childrearing. It is also necessary to create an environment that makes it easy to balance work and housework.”
