Al-Zeyoudi: Promoting national non-oil exports is a priority on the 'economy' agenda



The Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, visited the headquarters of the Dubai Export Development Corporation, an economic institution in Dubai, to discuss ways of cooperation in many fields, especially those that support the export work in the UAE.
The Corporation provided a comprehensive briefing, which included a detailed presentation of the services it provides and the most prominent trends it is working on, especially in the field of developing export capabilities and policies related to the export sector and supporting exporters towards international markets, in addition to introducing new initiatives and various paths for cooperation with the Ministry in the future.
The Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, said that the development and promotion of national non-oil exports is a priority on the agenda of the Ministry of Economy, and a key focus within the flexible package.
He stressed the ministry's commitment to cooperate with the relevant authorities at the federal and local levels to support national exports and increase their access to global markets.
Al-Zeyoudi referred to the main role played by Dubai Exports in developing the capabilities of exporters in the Emirate of Dubai, opening new markets for them, and providing services that enhance their competitiveness in foreign markets, which would serve the country's goals in developing the volume of non-oil foreign trade. And expand business partnerships.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Dubai Exports Development Corporation, Eng. Saed Al-Awadi, said: “We will work hard during the next phase, to develop many initiatives and plans that include support for exporters in the emirate and the country in general,” noting that the corporation has worked with the ministry on many joint projects. And diversified, which in turn strengthened the support of the exporters.
It is noteworthy that the emirate's non-oil trade in the first quarter of 2020 achieved about 323 billion dirhams, and during this period Dubai achieved a growth in exports by 2% compared to the same period in 2019, reaching a value of 43 billion dirhams.
