The General Civil Aviation Authority issues new regulations to regulate air mobility in urban areas

The General Authority of Civil Aviation has issued new regulations to regulate air movement in urban areas, which are a new method of air transportation, and these regulations are considered an important step towards building a safe and effective system for flights near populated urban areas in the United Arab Emirates.

The means of the air transportation system, such as air taxis or deliveries and deliveries using drones, are considered an advanced means of transporting people, goods and mail, and they will be regulated and subject to regulatory supervision at the present time, so that the new regulations provide foundations that allow operators to enter the market in an orderly, transparent and coordinated manner.

The Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, said that the air transport sector is a rapidly developing sector, and the UAE has a leading position and highly competitive capabilities in this vital field, and from this standpoint comes the issuance of these regulations to enhance the capabilities of the civil aviation sector In the country to keep pace with new solutions regarding aviation safety in urban areas and within cities. 

He continued, "The new economic trends have become increasingly driven by technological development, which has created many innovative activities and services, and air transport in urban areas is one of the main axes of this new system. Through the cooperation of the General Civil Aviation Authority with its partners from the concerned authorities, the implementation of regulations will be poured into Supporting the goals of the future vision of the UAE, and creating wide opportunities for an integrated transport system that is smarter, faster and sustainable.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Muhammad Al Tayer, stressed that issuing the regulatory and operational regulations for air vehicles in urban areas is an important step in organizing the operation of air taxis. Al Tayer said that the Roads and Transport Authority has worked side by side with the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the country, to develop the legislative and operational framework and define the specifications and standards necessary for operators in the emirate for this type of vehicle, so that these regulatory legislation is ready before the specified date for the commercial and official operation of air vehicles.

He added: The issuance of these regulations supports the RTA's efforts to translate the Dubai Strategy for Self-Driving Intelligent Mobility, which aims to convert 25% of the total transportation in Dubai into self-driving trips through various means of transportation by 2030, in addition to achieving integration between transportation. Collective and happiness for the population by providing easy, fast and innovative transportation and transportation channels.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the General Authority of Civil Aviation of the State in developing the legislative and operational framework and defining the specifications and standards necessary for operators of air vehicles in the Emirate of Dubai.
