Sino-Singapore Jingwei Client, August 7th, on Thursday, Eastern Time, the three major US stock indexes collectively closed up. The Dow rose by more than 180 points, and the Nasdaq reached a new high at 11,000 points.

  As of the close, the Dow rose 185.46 points, or 0.68%, to 27386.98 points; the Nasdaq rose 109.67 points, or 1.00%, to 11108.07 points; the S&P 500 index rose 21.39 points, or 0.64%, to 3,349.16 points.

  Major US technology stocks rose collectively. Apple rose 3.49%, Amazon rose 0.62%, Netflix rose 1.39%, Google rose 1.75%, Facebook rose 6.49%, and Microsoft rose 1.6%.

  US energy stocks were mixed. Exxon Mobil fell 0.49%, Chevron rose 0.33%, ConocoPhillips rose 0.11%, Schlumberger fell 0.97%, and Occidental Petroleum fell 3.01%.

  US financial stocks were up and down. JPMorgan Chase rose 0.01%, Goldman Sachs fell 0.14%, Citigroup fell 0.27%, Morgan Stanley fell 0.64%, Bank of America rose 0.32%, Wells Fargo fell 0.25%, and Berkshire Hazza Wei rose 0.67%.

  Popular Chinese concept stocks rose and fell mixed. Alibaba rose 0.29%, JD fell 0.93%, Baidu fell 0.21%; Xunlei rose 22.94%, GSX rose 15.58%, Dianniu Finance rose 14.22%, and Ideal Auto rose 10.45%. Qu Toutiao rose 5.97%; Four Seasons Education fell 13.33%, Pinduoduo fell 5.99%, Eggshell Apartments fell 4.82%, and Weilai Automobile fell 0.54%.

  In terms of economic data, the U.S. Department of Labor reported on Thursday that the number of people applying for unemployment benefits for the first time in the United States last week was 1.186 million, which was less than market expectations of 1.415 million. The number of first-time jobless claims in the previous week was revised to 1.435 million.

  In European stock markets, the three major European stock indexes closed down collectively. The London Stock Market "Financial Times" average price index of 100 stocks on the 6th closed at 6026.94 points, down 77.78 points or 1.27% from the previous trading day. The DAX index in Frankfurt, Germany, fell 68.57 points, or 0.54%, on the 6th, to close at 12591.68 points. The CAC40 index on the Paris stock market closed at 4,885.13 points on the 6th, down 48.21 points or 0.98% from the previous trading day.

  In terms of international oil prices, the West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil (WTI) futures for September delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed down 0.24 US dollars, or 0.6%, to close at 41.95 US dollars per barrel. London Intercontinental Exchange October Brent crude oil futures fell 0.08 US dollars, or 0.2%, to close at 45.09 US dollars per barrel.

  In terms of international gold prices, gold futures prices closed higher on Thursday. The price of gold futures for December delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 20.10 US dollars, or 1%, to close at 2069.40 US dollars per ounce, setting a record closing high for the fifth consecutive trading day.
