The index of consumption trends in the first half of July based on credit card usage information shows that the decline in “eating out” and “transportation”, which had been picking up again, increased again, and the overall recovery stagnated. I found out that

Data analysis company Nowcast and credit card giant JCB have released an index that shows consumption trends while protecting privacy based on card usage information.

Comparing the index in the first half of last month with the latter half of January before the spread of infection, it was minus 13.4%, showing a larger drop from the latter half of June which was minus 10.3%.

Although the rate of decline in the index has been shrinking since May, it is here that the recovery has slowed down.

Looking at the so-called "leisure consumption" index, "travel" was minus 58.8%, "accommodation" was minus 40%, "dining" was minus 34.4%, and "transportation" was minus 33.5%. The rate of decline for “outdoor dining” and “transportation” has been increasing since the latter half of June.

The company that conducted the survey said, ``We also think that it will be affected by heavy rain, but due to the increase in the number of people infected with the new coronavirus, there is a possibility that the movement to refrain from going out again is spreading, so future trends I am watching."
