The Barcelona Chamber, led by the independentista Joan Canadell , introduces a representative on Tuesday to the Board of Trustees of the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation. This is the lawyer Antoni Fitó Baucells , as EL MUNDO has confirmed, which comes under the statutes of the Catalan entity that provide that different institutions such as the Barcelona Chamber may appoint representatives.

The appointment is a milestone for the new Cambra, but it is very minority in the dome of la Caixa.

In the banking foundation chaired by Isidro Fainé , the parent company of Criteria and CaixaBank, they frame the incorporation into statutory normality and stress that Fitó will be one of fifteen in a board of trustees that continues to include personalities such as former minister Javier Solana or former president of Telefónica, César Alierta .

Fitó is included in the rotating shift corresponding to the founding entities of "la Caixa". He is a lawyer, member of the Executive Committee of the Chamber and president of its Committee of Good Practices and of its Committee on Legal and Fiscal Affairs. He will replace Carlos Llorens, the trustee appointed two years ago on the same shift by the Ateneu Barcelonès on the Foundation's Board of Trustees.

The Statutes of the Banking Foundation state that, every two years, for a rotating shift determined by their seniority, the founding entities of "la Caixa" will designate an employer who meets the relevant requirements in the field of action of Social Work, commercial honor and professional and the specific knowledge and experience for the exercise of their functions, without such appointment falling on the president of the founding entity.

These entities are, in order of seniority, the Societat Econòmica Barcelonesa d'Amics del País, founded in 1834; the Catalan Agricultural Institute of Sant Isidre, founded in 1851; the Ateneu Barcelonès, founded in 1860; the Cambra de Comerç, Indústria i Navegació de Barcelona, founded in 1886; and Foment del Treball Nacional, founded in 1889.
