China News Service, Beijing, July 27 (Reporter Liu Yuying) Huawei’s rotating chairman Guo Ping introduced on the 27th that there are currently more than 90 million 5G users worldwide and more than 700,000 5G base stations have been deployed. It is expected that by the end of the year, it will exceed 1.5 million base stations.

Guo Ping said at the 2020 Win-Win Global Online Summit that as of June, 81 operators around the world have deployed 5G commercial networks, covering countries and regions accounting for approximately 72% of global GDP, including some major economies in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

"The global 5G deployment has come to an end, and the focus of the next stage is to develop industry applications and release 5G dividends," said Guo Ping.

On July 3 this year, the 3GPP R16 standard was officially frozen. Guo Ping said that this will further accelerate the development of 5G industry applications.

Guo Ping believes that the commercial success of 5G is more than just connection. Strategic technologies such as 5G, computing, cloud, and artificial intelligence have historically converged and promoted each other. Huawei will provide scenario-based solutions based on different needs to help customers achieve business success.

In the first half of 2020, Huawei achieved sales revenue of RMB 454 billion, a year-on-year increase of approximately 13%.

"Under the complex background, achieving such growth is really hard-won," Guo Ping said. "In the future, we will continue to invest in research and development, attract more high-level scientific researchers, and maintain the vitality of innovation." (Finish)
